The Midnight Moon, by Gerri Hill

It was a fun holiday romance under a moonlit sky. After exchanging passionate nights and only first names, Peyton Watts and Logan Weaver go back to their lives. For Peyton, it's a return to her steady, conservative social circle and the not unwelcome overtures from attorney Margot Joseph. Meanwhile, Logan's free spirit is happy again moving with the college crowd. So when fate throws them once more into each other's paths, it shouldn't mean a thing....

Average Gerri Hill
By hellbound
I actually forgot I read this book it was almost that forgettable. So why did I give it three stars? Because Gerri Hill can still write readable schlock. Gerri Hill at her not so best is still better than some of the other stuff out there. You may think that that is a harsh comment but consider this: I read the reviews written by others and on those recommendations I make purchases. I do not have kindle or such and like to hold a paperback in my hand. To get that object costs, on average, $36 for us here in Australia. I think I have the right to be slightly peeved if I read a rave revue only to find that a sense of loyalty toward the author has overridden truth. To buy a Gerri Hill book I am almost guaranteed to find book that is fast paced, well written and almost believable. Sure the plots may be old hat but, as I said, with Gerri Hill, I can still read it.

She does it again
By d_fossey
It's amazing how Gerri can continue to write such entertaining books with essentially the same type of characters and similar plots as some of her previous works. But she does it, and this one is a good one. Peyton reminds me a bit of Nichole in The Killing Room. She's conservative and has a narrow social circle, she doesn't care much for spontaneity, and she has had essentially boring, semi-long term relationships. Logan is like Lee in Coyote Sky, she's non-committal, she dates younger, college women, but is starting to question why. Then she sees Peyton in a bikini and thus it begins :).

The other thing that Gerri does so very well is building up that sexual tension until it reaches a boiling point. She does a masterful job at creating that initial aloofness with Peyton, but as Logan starts to chip away at her resistance, she lets down her guard and realizes what a roll in the hay with Logan might be like. And it's quite the roll in the hay, as usual.

Overall a very enjoyable read with a satisfying, romantic conclusion.

sweet and steamy little romance
By kindle reader
3.5 stars
F/F romance

No one else can create the sweet and sexy little romantic fantasies I love like Gerri Hill. On many levels they are perfect in their simplicity. It's the chemistry. The eye contact. The build up and all the sexy sex... no one gets it like Gerri Hill when her leads sizzle. I will never ever tire of watching her uptight little blondes lustfully loosening up and falling madly for her sexy soft butches.

I love these kinds of leads and don't mind that repetition as the GENERAL template for her characters. I just wish she hadn't gotten to the point of cutting and pasting things from previous novels to make up key details and conflicts in new ones. Although still very enjoyable for what it is... this one is very much a hodgepodge of her previous stuff that works. If you haven't recently read Coyote Sky, The Killing Room, and Keepers of the Cave, the repetition may not bother you too much. Having recently read Coyote Sky myself, I found Logan's likeness to Lee just plain blatant. Way too much Coyote Sky here in general. And it's been a couple of years since I read The Killing Room... but Peyton is definitely modeled after Nicole. While still somewhat appealing in their own right, these two are ultimately just an echo of more original characters and some definition and mojo is lost in the cloning.

In this one, pretty 34 yr old blond accountant Peyton Watts has left behind old heartbreaks and a busy work life in Austin, Texas for some mindless peace and relaxation at The Rainbow Island Resort. Here our professional and standoffish little blonde meets the seductive working class Logan Weaver at the pool and Logan just isn't the type to take 'no' for an answer. Peyton is soon seduced by the fun-loving Logan into trying a few new activities and doing unscheduled things on the fly. So out of character for her. And dating older, uptight women is definitely out of character for our soon-to-be 30 Logan. Her usual is very young and very wild. Together they discover their usual "types" of women haven't really been working in their favor... and off they go being experimental and maturing in both life and love.

But what will become of this vacation romance when it's check out time? Will the lesfic stars align bringing these two together again?? You know it!!!

It's a pretty fun ride on the whole. Very romantic and some very cute scenes. And lots of sexy sex, of course. A little better than average Gerri, I think. But damn. The Margot stuff went on and on, lamely, and there was way too much telling instead of showing when it came to Peyton's uptightness. But the biggest distraction was the excess detail repetition from other stories which did kill it more than a little for me. And my goodness... don't take your characters to a sex shop unless you're gonna show us what they do with the purchase!!! :P
