About the Author
Aircraft was Roger Williams' first love, and he joined the de Havilland Aircraft Company where he quickly added motorcars to his list of prime interests. During the ensuing six years he not only completed his apprenticeship and studies, but also built two Ford-based specials. and in 1986 he started his own consultancy business, which allowed him to restore numerous MGBs, a Triumph TR6 and a Triumph Stag, and to write several MGB and Triumph TR books.

Almost got it right

This is a good basic book on the resto of the TR2-3B series. Although I was disappointed in the lack of detail on the electrical system, carbs, brake lines, fuel lines and so forth. The sticklers to restoring these cars is getting the details right and this has like a 10,000 ft overview rather than a detailed coverage. One other glaring note, there are too many references to the TR4 car in this book. The author should have chosen to write one book at a time rather than attempt to put out 2 book on the TR2-3B and the TR4 series. It show because of the constant use of illustrations and comparisons of the TR2-3B to the TR4, this does not help in the restoration of this car.

This is the best resto guide for TR2/TR3

I've been through this book cover to cover. It is hands down, the best guide available. I believe there is a newer edition available now. But you won't go wrong with this guide. Check out the British Car Forum for more Triumph restoration info.

Chen Lianshan is Associate Professor in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Peking University, where he also completed his doctoral studies. He is director of teaching and research in Folk Literature and a board member of the China Folklore Society. NOT A BOOK! Waste of money and time!

First of all, this is NOT a book. It is a 20 page pamphlet. I read the entire thing in about 10 minutes. I am so disappointed in this purchase! The "book" provided very cursory information about the personality type...nothing beyond what you can find via a simple Google search for INFJ. This is really a waste of $7 and a complete joke. There was truly nothing of value in this, and I did not gain any new knowledge.

I was more than disappointed with this product - expecting a book for its price, a mere thin brochure arrived instead. Its content I already had found and booked online. I though it a really bad taste to sell a couple of pages on Amazon like this. Not recommended.

I never heard of this kind of personality before.I only heard this from a talk show I watched last week ,so I looked for this in amazon if there is a book about this personality and I choose this book for its cover.This book gives me a nice quick guide to this rare personality.This book had a good read to platform off of. I will definitely recommend this book to anyone who is an INFJ and wants to get started in exploring their uniqueness. The author gives you lists of characters that belonged to INFJ and explains the strengths and weaknesses of this particular personality as well as the types of employment that this kind of person is better suited to. And the book offers a good overview for anyone involved with or wanting to better understand this personality type. It is clear that lots of research went into the planning of this book and I am sure that any personality type will benefit from applying the tips that are share.This book is a useful read.

Later, in a park, a friend encourages the same man to reorganize the buttons on his overcoat. In Raymond Queneau's Exercises in Style, this determinedly pointless scenario unfolds 99 times in twice as many pages. Originally published in 1947 (in French), these terse variations on a theme are a wry lesson in creativity. The story is told as an official letter, as a blurb for a novel, as a sonnet, and in "Opera English." It's told onomatopoetically, philosophically, telegraphically, and mathematically. The result, as translator Barbara Wright writes in her introduction, is "a profound exploration into the possibilities of language." I'd say it's a refresher course of sorts, but it's more like a graduate seminar. After all, how many of us are familiar with terms such as litote, alexandrine, apheresis, and epenthesis in the first place?

One of literature's greatest jokes!

Queneau was, among many other things, a brilliant gamester. In this book he takes the most banal of stories and tells it 99 times in 99 different styles. It is a weird book, whose charm grows as you continue. Once you get to the 5th or 6th version of this inane tale, you begin to laugh and gasp and don't stop until the end. Like all good jokes, it is more than a joke. If you delight in language, read this book. If you do not delight in launguage, this book will teach you to. I have read the original French version, and Barbara Wright has stayed true to it in this wonderful translation. Don't miss this gem!

Taking exception

The book is terrific. But I must take exception to anyone who criticizes a book (favorably or unfavorably) without first having read it. The reviewer from Italy goes so far as to criticize the English translation, which he or she admittedly has not read. I wonder what Raymond Queneau would say? Something witty and devastating, no doubt in 99 different styles, which Barbara Wright would then render into English, staying true to the original.

About the Author

CLAUDE H. YODER has been teaching general chemistry for over forty years. During that time, he has published over 130 scientific articles and three texts. He has also won many awards and honors throughout his career, including the ACS Undergraduate Research Award in 1994, and his most recent, the E. Emmett Reid ACS Award in 2008.

PHYLLIS A. LEBER is currently a professor at Franklin & Marshall College. Dr. Leber has been teaching general and organic chemistry for over thirty years. During that time, she has won many awards and honors, and more recently, the Dr. E. Paul and Frances H. Reiff Professor Endowed Chair in 2001 and the Bradley R. Dewey Scholarship Award from Franklin & Marshall College in 2005. Dr. Leber has published over forty articles throughout her career.

MARCUS W. THOMSEN is currently a professor at Franklin & Marshall College and has been teaching for over twenty-five years. He has taught general chemistry, organic chemistry, advanced organic chemistry, and polymer chemistry.

Making the 'leap' to organic chem...

I took general chem, organic chem, adv organic chem and quantum chemistry about 30 years ago ... so I may not be typical person who might order this book. But frankly, I had a great time reading it. So much material that had lapsed in my memory were brought back quickly through the Q&A format of this book... the Socratic approach I guess.

Each chapter of this book covers essential material that is necessary to get right at the start of an O Chem course. It starts with structure and naming which can be very difficult if not well understood at first. The IUPAC rules are emphasized, although some commonly used names are included... very useful. It then progresses to the use of Lewis structures in understanding how organic compounds will participate in chemical reactions, then covers molecular orbital theory as well. This used to be graduate level material, but is now an excellent way for undergrads to understand reactivity and the underlying mechanisms. Of course the math is not as fully covered, but this does not detract from the books value.

Each question is followed by the correct answer. It actually takes a bit of effort to not see the answer of you are trying to solve the problem first... perhaps they should be at the end of the chapter for best effect. In several questions, a wrong answer is also explained, which helps with some of the trickier structures. I found the questions to be very well phrased and and answers precise. The reader must pay close attention!

Overall, I think this book would be most benficial for a person who had skipped a term between general chem and organic chem, and needed a refresher on structure. It will certainly supplement an intro O Chem course if you find the regular text book confusing.

A Good Adjunct

This workbook would be aa useful adjunct for a student of organic chemistry. It is a bit sparse but nicely organized with a question and answer section following the brief explanatory text. I don't know that it is a "bridge" but it does supplement the subject and provides for self evaluation of the basic principles and nomenclature. It assumes a good basic working knowledge of chemistry. In other words, this is not organic chemistry for dummies. I think this book works better as a supplement or review book rather than a bridge.

Good review, not much more to it.

I purchased this book hoping it would give me some guidance for introductory o-chem for advanced high school students. It is ok, but to me it is really sparse on the detail. I would like to see more exercises, more detail about some of the basic concepts of o-chem, and more information in general. This book is like a slightly large cheat sheet.
